Reasons:
Newer posts are buried or lost entirely, killing present activity on the board.
New board members will be confused.
It makes the board look bad.
How would you feel if you just registered to the forums and post, come back the next day and your post is missing. Your going to think...did I do something wrong? Why is my post gone? Was it deleted? If you by chance find it again, how many replies do you think it would have? Not many because it never had a chance to be seen. Even if you are an older member, it isnt fair to the poster that his/her topic was buried.
If an old topic has some revelance for being bumped, we have no problems with it.
However, excessive bumping of old topics is a problem, it has been complained about by other users, and simply, its not polite in the least.
The first time, it was a ha ha. The board had very little activity because of the warm weather wave, and it didn't hurt anyone. But this continuous behavior isn't acceptable. It's ruining the board.
Future action will be DELETION of any bumped topics that do not hold present importance. This excludes the entertainment section which obvioiusly holds no true importance. This means, if you bump a topic, its as good as gone.
If BeautifulDeath, Stealth, or I have to delete more than a few topics to keep the current ones on top, new offenders will be warned. If they continue this behavior, they will be banned for 24 hours. Old offenders will be banned for 24 hours because they know better.
The ban is for two reasons...one it gives us the ability to physically stop the bumping of topics, preventing further damage. It allows new posts to be made and balance out the board. Two, it allows us to repair any damage by getting rid of the old posts or bump up the current ones, so that newer ones will once again show up near the top.
And lastly, yes of course it is a bit of a burden to you for putting a burden on us. An eye for an eye.
If JewsOnIce continues to bump topics, I will remove his ability to post and only give him the ability to delete until the board is back to its original current status
