It isn't the sound that does, it is when they are incoming. It takes away from the game making it lag even worse

idk i have zero lag from emails now. And VERY little it seems from text with no sound. Maybe I'm special. lol you wanna see lag, turn the vibration on for texts n emails... good lord its awful

Download the app called Toggle Settings and create a profile, I name mine "gaming". You can select ringtone, vibration, autosync, screen brightness...basically everything but 3g to edge switching with the touch of one button. Then when youre finished with inf or whatever other game you may be playing, go back to your home profile and carry on as usual.
If Im going to in an important game (like the events) I sign out of my gtalk before starting too.
Another good tip is if you are on wifi, go to settings and try to connect to verizon or att. It will say that your sim card isnt correct, but you can still connect to wifi through it. This will prevent text messages and calls from coming through. (good tip for clan wars where you absolutely do not want to be interupted).
That's about all I have to share.
