Okay. So I'm playing a ctf game. Killing a lot of people, then my player won't move. Eh! Lag. So I wait it out. My bar is displaying a full 3 block signal, so I figure, it will snap back like it does so often. Wrong. I sat that way for 5 minutes until I realized nothing was going to fix itself, so I had to leave the game and come back straight away. Well, when I went back in, things were perfect, no lag, no problems.

I just thought id let you guys know about this. Its happened to me a few times. It'll recover for 1 second, "warp" me to a location I guess I wandered onto when lagging, and freeze again. Sometimes it corrects itself and I can continue the game, but sometimes it doesn't at all.

Its not my connection because the game never registers a drop in signal and I never get an edge warning. I think it may be either a bug/glitch in the game or the actual server.

I'm not complaining, I can just re-enter the game. But I felt you should know about it.

I'm getting annoyed with the lag now...when I'm running with the flag or after someone with the flag, it'll show me as doing that...all of a sudden I'm stuck in a building beside where I am...I'm getting the arse shot off me when I don't even realise it. Any chance of fixing this? Or adding it to the long list!

Also, I'd like to thank the devs for setting up this forum because you can't really get over what's wrong on the comments on the market. Good job guys!

I can agree. Lag was almost obsolete about 2 updates ago, now its back and worse than ever! I lag even when there are only 2 chars on my screen. Its even worse during a 10 person battle! If this is a server issue, consider switching servers. You have so many players hooked to this game, paying for a lagless server would be worth paying. If its a programming issue, please put this at the top of that long list. Its a real disheartener when lag stops you from grabbing the flag up before the other team returns it, or prevents you from using a medpack in time and you die. Enrage is nearly unusable because lag prevents it from kicking in before u die, and I have to heal when my bar is halfway down or else I'm liable to die before it can be used.

I'm sure scouts have it worse off, because I see them running into walls now all the time in ctf, usually with flag in hand.

Unfortunately thats network lag, and there's almost nothing we can do about it.

A normal FPS (on a computer) your ping (time to the server and back) is roughly 50-100ms. Which makes for a good playing experience.
On 3g, that number drops to around 400-500ms, meaning _everything_ you do, the server has no idea about until roughly a half second later.
On edge, that number fluctuates between 1-2 seconds (1000-2000ms). Meaning everything you do, its very possible won't happen until 2 seconds later on the server.

This is 100% to do with the network you're running on, and absolutely nothing to do with the server/code unfortunately. An example of this would be, play on Wifi for a while, and you'll notice almost none of these errors, and medpacks/enrage will happen almost immediately when you use them.

I get this on Wifi a lot too. Obviously it happens less than when I'm on 3G, but it still happens quite a lot.

Thanks impact. I understand your point....so our complaints go to t-mobile? Lol. I can't play my projectinf! You bastards!

I'll have to try wifi and see. My only question is, why was there a week without lag if it deals with the network and not the server? I had very little to no lag, and I want it back! Lol

Thats interesting. Its possible we botched something up on the server, and we'll take a look into it, but the underlying networking code hasn't changed in a long time (at least since July 30)

I play on Wi-Fi and I hardly get any lag. The only time I DO get a lag is usually in DTM where there are about 8-10 players on the screen at the same time. It's like total chaos!

Lag was bad for me tonight on 3G. 3 or 4 people in a game and I got stuck on a car for at least 10 seconds. :evil:

Last night was horrible! There were very few people online....but I still lagged badly?

And I got kicked out of the game ending up back at my character select screen at two different occassions in mid-game? That happened back in beta A LOT lol, but now? A little strange.

At one point I thought I had a phone call because the entire application closed randomly. No phone call, no text, no gtalk convo, nothing.


BUT I noticed that my text messages didn't interupt the game. And without me changing any options. There is a god! :mrgreen:
