Don't know if anyone has gone through this or if someone has posted something about it. I have a rooted sapphire and switch my ROMs quite often. When you do this it will remove info from your applications. I have been avoiding doing this since starting ProjectINF as I am worried I will loose the ability to use my characters. Is there a backup so you can save your ability to log in with certain characters? Or does it automatically save it to your sdcard? Any info would be appreciated... Hopefully I can still switch my ROMs. Thanks.

The chars are on the server not on the phone. U lose them if u get a new phone but the devs can usually get them back.

I realize the characters are not saved to your phone but the server has to recognize the phone to load your characters. Switching ROMs is about the closest thing to changing phones as it wipes almost all data from phone and reinstalls it again. Just wondering if someone has tried this with success or failure. Thanks again.

I switch up stuff all the time on my Sapphire. As far as I understand the phone's IMEI is used to keep track of your characters.

Hey, wanted to chime in

You _should_ be fine. I've changed ROMs a few times with no problems.

All the characters are tied to the phone via a unique device ID (hardware), similar, but not actually an IMEI (some devices in the future won't actually be phones, but laptops/tablets/etc, and won't have IMEI's).

That being said, I _think_ there are ROMs that allow you to change your hardware ID. I'm not sure why this is available, or useful, but if that gets changed you won't have access to your characters anymore. Normal ROM switches should be fine

Thanks for all the input... Makes me feel a little more comfortable about some of the switches. I'm gonna stay away from the big switches until I learn a little more from ProjectINF devs and ROM devs alike. Some ROMs change your firmware and build number. I'll post when I find out more and eventually test it out. Thanks again.

I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to add my experience. I just switched roms for the first time since playing project inf and I did lose all my characters. I switched from a 2.0.1 rom to a 2.2 rom which involved a complete factory reset and formatting the boot and system directories.
